It is unfortunate that not many people know about what a terrific tourist destination Bulgaria is. But those who have been there rave about the country, and talk about how much they have enjoyed their Holidays to Bulgaria.

Bulgaria is quite unique with its mix of history, culture, ski resorts and lovely, sun-kissed beaches. No matter how young or old you are, there is something for everyone in Bulgaria, a holiday to relish, which is fun, exciting and relaxing, all at once.

Let’s talk a bit more about how it’s like to go on Holidays to Bulgaria.

 Sofia

The Bulgarian capital of Sofia is at a short two and half hour flight from London. It is one of Europe’s top holiday resorts and easily one of the most beautiful capital cities in the world. There’s so to see in Sofia. You will love the historical buildings from the Medieval, Byzantine and Roman eras.

You will love the busy and bustling Sofia nightlife. The nightclubs in Sofia are simply world class. You will relish the cold beer, the peppy music, which never dies, the dance, which is on until the early hours of the morning, and the people, who are fun and interesting.

The Sofia cuisine is delightful as well. There’s the Vitosha Boulevard where you’ll find a plenty of cozy and welcoming bars, clubs, restaurants and cafes for every budget. So, if you’re hungry, treat yourself to a luxurious Bulgarian meal at one of the five star restaurants in Sofia.  There’s something in Sofia for everyone.

Sofia is located at the base of the Vitosha Mountain, which is one of the most scenic natural landscapes you’ll ever see. Just outside Sofia is the tranquil and peaceful Rila Monastery – an ideal place to meditate or for a period of quiet contemplation.

Sunny Beach

Bulgaria has some of the world’s most beautiful beaches such as Golden Sands and Sunny Beach. The seaside resort of Nessebar is also worth a visit. The 230-mile long Black Sea coast is particularly attractive to tourists looking for a relaxing late-afternoon under the Sun.

Sunny Beach is the largest beach resort in Bulgaria and also the most popular one. It is located in a very picturesque and ecologically rich region, close to the town of Nessebar. Sunny Beach is located along the Black Sea Coast – which is the world’s longest beach strip.

There’s always a party on at Sunny Beach at one of its hundreds of bars and restaurants. There are a plenty of opportunities for entertainment, sports and shopping as well. Sunny Beach attracts tens of thousands of tourists from around the world on a regular basis. The peak tourist season here is from May to October.

Burgas

Burgas is one of Bulgaria’s most important cities and a must visit for tourists. It is a very cosmopolitan and urbane place and has a large student population. The nightlife in Burgas is rich and happening. You will find some of the hottest nightclubs in Bulgaria here in Burgas. Burgas is also very family friendly and has a plenty of fun spots for kids, such as the Sea Gardens, where many kids can be found building their own sand castles.  Burgas is known to have the best cuisine in Bulgaria. A morning walk along the Burgas beach can be immensely relaxing.

Bansko

Bansko is one of the best ski resorts in the world and is an excellent winter destination. It is also a lot of fun in the summer when you will find a plenty of rafting, mountaineering and rock climbing opportunities. Bansko has been declared by UNESCO to be a World Heritage Site because of its rich history and architecture, which dates back to the Bulgarian Revival period. There are many great places to visit in Bansko such as the historically significant St Trinity Church as well as the museums built to honour Bansko’s favourite sons,  Neofit Rilski, the famous 19th century monk and Nikola Vaptsarov, the great Bulgarian poet, communist and revolutionary.
