Planning to visit Bulgaria this summer? That’s wonderful, because you’re going to have a great time in Bulgaria, which is one of the most underexplored countries in Europe. We’ve listed some of the things to do in Bulgaria. We also discuss what to expect during your visit to Bulgaria. But first, did book your hotel in Bulgaria yet? Make no compromises on the quality.

What to expect in Bulgaria?

You will get to experience a unique combination between the most delectable cuisine and awesome scenery, the likes of which you will have never seen anywhere else.

Bulgaria has some of the most breathtaking visuals of mountains and an absolutely gorgeous coastline. It is one of the oldest countries in Europe with a rich cultural heritage and a history that goes back to thousands of years.

Bulgaria offers some of the most delectable cuisine that you will find anywhere, which combines the pleasant fragrance of the Mediterranean with a powerful Balkan spirit, with Middle Eastern spices added for taste.

Bulgaria has one of the lowest costs of living in Europe. Sofia is considered to be one of the most affordable cities in Europe. The cost of living in Burgas and Varna is very affordable as well. A full course meal for two costs less than 10 euros in Bulgaria, while a coffee costs between 2 to 3 euros.

You can have beer for as little as 2 to 3 euros. You can take a taxi to any part of Sofia for under 5 euros.  You can watch your favourite Hollywood movie for just 7 euros in a reasonably decent multiplex theatre.

 Things to do...

Sample some fine Bulgarian wine – Bulgaria is one of the oldest wine producers in the world. Bulgarian wine combines the traditional with the modern. You will find some of the loveliest grape varieties such as Mavrud, Dimyat and Melnik here, alongside international favourites such as Merlot, Pinot Noar and Syrah. When in Bulgaria, be sure to go on a wine tour. You will enjoy visiting some of Bulgaria’s best wineries.

Buy the unique handmade crafts – During your visit to Bulgaria make sure you’ve got a lot of space in your suitcase as you will be tempted to buy some of the most charming souvenirs such as pottery, handmade, jewellery, woodcarvings and leather items. You will also like the even rose-oil and yogurt based cosmetics. It is unlikely that you will find the sort of craftsmanship and originality that you will find in Bulgaria anywhere else in Europe.

Visit the Bulgarian countryside – Rural life in Bulgaria is very calm, beautiful and instantly appealing. Visit a beautiful Bulgarian village and stay in an open guest house. Explore the nearby markets, farms and the vineyards. The air in Bulgarian villages is clean and fresh, the scenery is great, the water is pure and there’s no traffic anywhere. You will enjoy the peace and quiet here.

We hope you have an enjoyable time in Bulgaria. There is a good reason why Bulgaria is called Europe’s greatest secret and you will find out soon enough. We look forward to your company here in Bulgaria.
